Who We Are
Pathway is not just a Sunday morning church service, or even a building for that matter. Rather, we're a community of imperfect people who have encountered the saving grace of Jesus. Together we seek to love God and explore what it means to follow Jesus. We are each other's champions; constantly encouraging one another to be all that God has called us to be.
Our church philosophy is to keep things simple. We desire to create a safe and friendly place where we can openly celebrate the victories and navigate the challenges of our faith journey. We believe in heartfelt worship, honest friendships, constant prayer and community outreach. At Pathway, we are striving to be a church that makes a difference in our community; a church that serves others at their point of need and brings the love and hope of Christ to impossible situations. If this resonates with you, then we invite you to come and check us out - we would hope that you would feel at home and become part of the Pathway family.
What We Believe
At the core of our beliefs is the Bible, God's infallible written Word and guide for our lives. We believe that both the Old and New Testaments were uniquely and fully inspired by the Holy Spirit and is the supreme authority for our faith.
We believe that there is only one God who, by his word and for His glory, created the world out of nothing. The God we serve is infinite, eternal, almighty and perfect in holiness, truth and love. His plans are perfect and cannot be thwarted; He is faithful to every promise and works all things together for the good to those who love Him. God, in His amazing grace has given us His one and only Son Jesus Christ for our redemption. He is the only Saviour for our sins and the only way for us to achieve eternal life. By conquering death in our place, Jesus removed our guilt and shame so that we might have a personal relationship with Him now and forevermore. We have been made in the likeness of God and have been set apart for a unique purpose. Though sin remains a reality for us, we seek to grow in the knowledge of the Lord, endeavoring to live as God intended so that all people in the world may see the glory of our Father.
To fully experience our beliefs, we invite you to join us for Sunday worship. However, if you have any questions please feel free to reach out to each of our pastors, Matt Reid | email@example.com and Whitney Reid | firstname.lastname@example.org
What to Expect at Our Church
At a glimpse, when you come to Pathway you can expect an hour and a half long service that is filled with modern music, passionate and heartfelt worship, prayer and fellowship. Each week our Pastor brings a powerful message that challenges our thinking and helps us more fully understand God and our faith. We strive to create an experience that is casual, relatable, simple and meaningful for everyone. Pathway is perfect for all ages - from infants to the young at heart, we are confident that you will find a place in our church.
One of the first things that you'll notice when you come to Pathway is that our facility isn't your typical church building. In fact, it isn't a church building at all! We meet at the Cineplex Theatres located at 760 Topsail Road in Mount Pearl. How can we be a church without a traditional building you might ask? We believe that God's church is so much more than the bricks and mortar that hold his disciples. Rather, the church is the body of believers who gather together, receive the Holy Spirit and go out to share the Gospel. To join us for worship, get directions here!
When you arrive at the Theatre, parking can be found at the rear of the building. To find our Sunday morning worship service simply follow the Pathway Community Church signs to the designated mall entrance. At the entrance, you will be greeted by a member of our congregation with a smile! They can answer any questions you might have and guide you to the lobby where we encourage you to socialize while you enjoy free Starbucks coffee, tea and hot chocolate prior to the service.
Our service starts at 11am and typically lasts for approximately ninety minutes. As you enter the Theatre and find a chair, we'll have worship music playing to encourage an atmosphere of praise and adoration. Our worship team helps lead us in focusing on Jesus through song. We encourage you to sit, kneel, stand, clap, lift your hands or even dance during worship. At Pathway there is no judgment - just pure, uninhibited worship. So feel free to praise the Lord in whatever way the Holy Spirit leads you.
Prior to hearing the message, we take time to worship though giving back to God in the form of offerings. By giving, we recognize His provision and help further the ministry of Pathway in our community. We also provide our younger children with an opportunity to leave the main service and attend Junior Church where they have the opportunity to learn about God in a way that is meaningful to them. We want to see all of our children come to know Jesus and grow in their relationship with God.
For the adults, Pastor Matt delivers a message that is practical, creative and Biblical, designed to share God's truth in compelling and challenging ways. After the message we take time to respond to the Holy Spirit through song and prayer. At Pathway we recognize that everyone is different and while some people feel comfortable moving to the front of the church to respond to God's message, others may simply want to bow their head in prayer right where they are. That's why although the invitation to come forward may be given, you will never be pressured to step outside your comfort zone. If you would like to pray with someone, a Pastor or a member of our Prayer Team will pray with you at the front, or meet you at the back of the theatre after the service.
After the Service
After the service, people will often spend some time talking with one another. You may notice our Setup & Teardown Team starting to pack up and transform the environment back into a theatre, however, don’t let this stop you from hanging around and getting to know some people.
What should I wear?
Wear what makes you comfortable. While casual dress is the norm you will likely see a little of everything as some prefer to dress up, but many prefer to dress casually. We don’t judge people based on how they dress. We’re just glad you came! Don't spend hours fretting about finding the perfect outfit - come as you are! We often say that Pathway is perfect for people who aren't.
Should I bring a Bible?
If you’ve got a Bible, feel free to bring it! Or, whip out that Bible app on your smartphone and follow along. While we encourage people to bring a Bible and a pen to take notes it's okay if you don't have one. We’ll read the scripture out loud or put verses on the screen and in the sermon notes so that you don't miss a thing.
Will I be asked to give money?
As a guest, you will not be expected to participate in the giving portion of our worship experience. However, if you would like to give an offering we would certainly appreciate it and you can be confident that your donation will be used to further God's kingdom in our community. If you are visiting and do not have giving envelopes, blank envelopes will be made available in the lobby. By placing your donation in an envelope a tax receipt can be issued to you at the end of the year. If Pathway is your home church, we simply ask that you honor God with your resources and partner with us in accomplishing the mission God has given us. For more information please see the Giving section of our website.
Will I be singled out as a guest?
Absolutely not. If you feel comfortable, you can let our Greeters know you are visiting and they will help you get connected with our congregation.
